[[It has been a good couple of weeks since the experiment with being a family. Even mother's day had passed by, much to Val's unnoticing. She'd been distracted from life at home, mostly looking into, and around, this marriage thing.
She didn't get it. Of course, she hadn't considered going to read a book on it, but, she also assumed that wouldn't get her anywhere either.
Well, two weeks is plenty of procrastination on this topic... Though, surely her silence and pondering might've caused some concern with Kirimi and Neliel.]]
I'm sorry to be a bother while everyone's busy greeting the New Feathers, but I want to ask something. What's the purpose of marriage? I understand that it's what two people do when they love eachother enough, but, what makes it any different from being a boyfriend, or girlfriend.
Honestly, if you truly have no desire to be apart from the one you love, why is that something people resort too?
I suppose this last experiment left me a little confused about the subject. Not that... I'm opposed, mind you... That is... marrying Nel, but... I don't know why it's necessary...

[A pause. Sob, Daisy wonders why are you asking a social retard about this stuff.]
Reasons for marrying here?
Could be done if you love eachother, and if you two want it.
Re: [Written]
Maybe I'll ask.. but do you think its a good idea... with the way people can suddenly leave here?
[Written]
She sighs.]
I don't think so.
[Pay no heed to the text, Val. Daisy actually wonders what would it be like, even if she's thinking from a practical point of view.]
Re: [Written]
[[Of course, that's not the answer she wants to hear, despite how true it may be...]]
Well... all that aside... are you feeling better?
[Written]
Better. [The fact she replied is a good sign by itself.] I'm thinking more clearly now.
That spirit -Kipinn- tells me to drop the lone wolf stuff.
[This is probably the strangest thing she has ever written. It proves Daisy herself that either she's getting used to the supernatural, or that her sanity just commited suicide.]
Re: [Written]
[[You're just getting used to things. Surely it helped to have at lead had a pretend girlfriend for a while. Fake romance is better than NEVER at all... right?]]
[Written]
Well. Being alone in here isn't
[Smart? Convenient? Useful? Good?]
healthy.
[If only the Spartan could tell her why. Two people now know, though...
A pause as she filters the signal.]
[ENCRYPTED TO VALVALIS // EYES ONLY]
The reason for me not being too social goes a lot further. Outside of the people of my unit, I never really had friends.
[Fancy wording to mean: I was either considered either a hero or a monster by everyone but Spartans.]
It enraged me when they had given me a fake family in place of my real one. But no one I got with was a bad person.
Maybe these bonds just felt too fast.
[Filtering back.]
Well... I would like to hope it didn't.
But... I think I understand what you mean. Suddenly, you had friends and family that existed for years, and then it was taken away in an instant. I think that's even more of a shock than you coming into a world of monsters and magic.
[Filtered]
[Having snapped or not, Daisy still thinks of Valvalis as her closest friend in this place. Which is why the Spartan wonders if the elemental has earned the right to know.]
It wasn't the first time. [Nor the second. Nor the third.]
[Filtered]
You've... been through this fake family thing before? [[I swear, if you tell her, you're in for the biggest hug, ever.]]
[Filtered]
No. Not a fake family. Losing years of a family in one moment.
I've seen others do the same as what the Malnosso did. They had done it to me. It's the reason I want to kill them.
Re: [Filtered]
Where are you right now?
[Filtered]
There is the longest of pauses as Daisy thinks about what she had just done. Then, a quick map is sketched, with Daisy's location on the mountains marked with a cross.]
Re: [Filtered]
Because it wouldn't make any sense to walk there, take hours and... well... It was just going to take too long to walk. Flying was faster and far more direct... So, expect an air-drop of (1) one elemental female.
And the whole 20-30 minutes it probably took, she's been keeping in mind that Daisy has had a lot more and lost more than Val ever will... at least, unless Daisy's life suddenly went on full pause and Val went on another 10 years or so, but I digress...
She's here now. And she doesn't even say hello or ask permission.
It's hugging time.]]
[Action]
Daisy-023 only looks at the sky when she notices the air elemental, expecting for a second a conversation.
But the sudden action shocks her senses.
Once again, training be damned, she does not know what to do. Daisy remains immobile, feeling Valvalis even beneath the layers of metal. But she does not feel invaded. A part of her remembers her childhood. She feels happy.]
Re: [Action]
Daisy... I can't make you do otherwise, but you don't have to ...
[[She's not even sure what she's trying to say here.]] You're my friend. I don't want to see you suffering, or sad.
[Action]
Outside of Spartan nature, she leans her head near Val's, and holds her back. Silent. But far from distant.
Daisy wondered for a moment if it was possible to outrun that fate here.]
Re: [Action]
[Action]
They stole me from my parents when I was just six.
[Which is why Daisy feels she cannot hide it anymore. Because holding it out while the Malnosso taunted her about it would only break her. Her voice sounds drained as she speaks, rather than enraged.]
My world has always been at war. Between maniacs that blew up whole cities, and rebellion that gained momentum, they told us we'd be the protectors of our race.
Then they trained me to turn me into a living weapon. Fed me lies to happily serve. Forbade me from bonding with anyone that was not from my unit. Changed my body until people wondered if I was even human.
[In spite of these words, what puzzles her is how some of these experiences were not things she wholly regretted. The rest of the Spartans turned into her second family, Mendez ultimately made them stronger, and she found meaning to her life when the Covenant appeared.
But Halsey. She is the one that lied to them. Unlike the rest of the Spartans, Daisy hated her.
She still doesn't know if this desire to serve is true, or if they brainwashed her into it. It gave her life purpose, but was there a way to be the protector of Earth, and at the same time have the right to a family?]
I don't remember my parents' names. It's the reason I was never social. It's why I am this. It's why that woman you saw on my first shift was so young. Because that's what I last saw of her.
They got their weapon. And I got cheated out of my childhood.
Re: [Action]
The elemental didn't have all these life experiences. Even in all her time here, nothing could really compare to that.
Eventually though, she'd have to say something, but what.
Well, as best she could, the woman held the Spartan a bit tighter, armor considered. She just couldn't come up with the words to comfort her at all...]]
Re: [Action]
In a way, cleansed.
Daisy drops her helmet, and lets her blond head rest on the elemental's, closing her eyes.
She hated what this place was doing to her. But she never expected to be taken with open arms. As a person, not a freak.]
You accepted me.
Re: [Action]
[[Val draws back a little, to smile.]] This... hmm... you know I don't mean ill, but, why don't I adopt you too. It may not be the same, but at least while you're here, you'll have a family to go to.
[Action]
Daisy blushes at the thought. She thought for a long time that such chance was gone.]
Am I not too old for that?
[Then again... In a way, something even Halsey noted in spite of their stoicism, Spartans sometimes resembled children.]
Re: [Action]
I'm sure there's room in the house, though, you're probably too well settled into your apartment to want to move.
But, I don't think age is an issue here. Technically I'm only three. [[*pose*]] And nobody seems to have a problem with that.
Re: [Action]
[Smart AI's lived to be seven, at most, yet they behaved like adults. Val was little different.
But, she thinks about Val's offer. It's been two years since people began appearing in this place, and she had just arrived four months ago. No one among the New Feather waves had been from even her continuity. And the fact she would die when this place found no use for her.]
I'm good enough with the apartment. [She preferred the private space to work. But even that place turned lonely.] But... Do you mean it? After everything?
